Gigantes ink Brian Wilson to extension
The San Francisco Giants and closer Brian Wilson have agreed to a two-year, $15 million contract extension. Wilson will receive $6.5 million in 2011 and $8.5 million in 2012.
The Giants effectively bought out the final two years of Wilson’s arbitration eligibility. The closer avoided arbitration this season by agreeing to $4.4 million contract.
Wilson, 28, was 4-6 with a 2.74 ERA with 38 saves in 2009. In the last two seasons, Wilson has accumulated 79 saves. By far, one of the smartest moves of the spring as Wilson is a stud closer who will dominate the league for years to come.
