Andres Torres has won this year’s Willie Mac Award. Prior to the game last night at AT&T Park, Willie McCovey bestowed the award upon a deserving Torres with many of the former award winners in attendance.

Each award winner, who showed up for the ceremony, was announced over the public address system and then paraded to home plate from an entrance in centerfield. The loudest applause came when two-time Willie Mac recipient (and current Giants broadcaster) Mike Krukow (1985-86) was announced.

The Willie Mac Award is named in honor of Giants Hall of Fame slugger Willie McCovey. The Willie Mac Award is given annually to the San Francisco Giants player who best exemplifies the spirit and leadership consistently shown by the San Francisco legend throughout his career.
