Brown is awarded MiLBY for being Class-A's best hitter.

Top Giants prospect Gary Brown was honored Thursday with the MiLBY for Best Class A Advanced Hitter.

The San Jose Giant’s leadoff man finished among the Cal League’s top three leaders in numerous offensive categories, including batting (.336), runs (115), hits (188), triples (13), total bases (290) and stolen bases (53).

Brown is also a stud with the glove, committing just three errors in 273 chances. And he nailed 16 runners.

Other Giants minor leaguers who were nominated for MiLBYs, but did not win include Eric Surkamp, who lost out to Brad Peacock (Nationals) for Best Double-A Starter; Joe Panik, who lost out to Eddie Rosario (Twins) for Best Hitter for Class-A Short Season; and Chris Heston, who lost out to Darin Gorski (Mets) for Best Class-A Advanced Starter of 2011.

Brown told MLB.com’s Andrew Pentis that he was worried about being traded by the Giants before Zack Wheeler was dealt to the Mets for Carlos Beltran.

“A lot of people were mentioning things on my Twitter, and I just ignored it,” Brown told Pentis. “Until the day when Zack got traded, he and I were talking earlier that morning. He had mentioned that he had heard something that I was gone. It was just until that last moment that I was nervous.”

Brown need not worry about his future. San Francisco has big plans for the 23-year old Fullerton grad. Fred Stanley, the Giants director of player development, said it best: “He’ll move through our system quickly.”

    This is a story?

How do you call yourself a blogger, when the best you can come up with is an insult to people who’ve ripped Brian Sabean for justifiable reasons?

Great stories, but you need to go read Blogging 101. Blogs are for commentary tied in with stories. Everybody can go read sfgiants.com if they want to keep updated with stories.

But if the traffic is good for you and you could care less about producing quality material, then be my guest. Followers or views doesn’t = quality.

      Thanks for reading, Bob.

Since you are obviously the master sage when it comes to the universal elucidation of the purpose of blogs, might you please refer me to your doctoral thesis on the subject so I may become as astute as you?

      On second thought …

I don’t give a shit that you think my stories, game recaps, or other content here is “bloggy” enough for you. I’ll keep producing my content the way I have since Dec. 2009 and pleasing my 90,000 monthly readers and you can just click on over to a blog that meets your fastidious needs. Mmm-kay?
