Jeff Keppinger signs with Rays
According to a tweet from ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick, former San Francisco Giants infielder Jeff Keppinger has agreed to a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Keppinger, 31, played in 56 games for the Giants following the July 19 trade with the Houston Astros for minor leaguers Jason Stoffel and Henry Sosa. He batted .255/.285/.333 (0.618 OPS) with 2 HR and 15 RBI for the Giants, and .277/.300/.377 (0.677 OPS) with 6 HR and 35 RBI overall last year.
He became expendable when the Giants elected to hang on to Mike Fontenot last month.
Keppy is expected to compete for at bats with Rays infielders Sean Rodriguez and Reid Brignac.
Bummer…I think I kinda liked, Keppy. Oh well…at least we still have Timmy!
Awww! No more keppinger?
well…good luck to him!
I liked Kep too! Good luck to him in the AL!
Good luck Keppy! Good for him, i like the Rays.
I liked Keppy, too…also wishing him luck with the Rays. It was short, but he was a good Giant.
Gigantes can’t sign EVERY free agent for big bucks. I just wish they would sign the big boys sometimes, like Pujols or Fielder. We still need more big bats!
I’m gonna miss keppy too, but shantheREman is totally right!
bummed, Keppy played The Game right.
not gonna lie I will miss him!
i liked that dude.
