1889: In New York City, workers are dismantling fences at the Polo Grounds to cut a street through the property, leaving the New York Giants without a home for the coming season.

Gosh. I didn’t know this, and Dad didn’t tell me about it. Then again, he was born in 1919, so I guess he’s off the hook for that one. I think later today I’ll check into where they played that season. Thanks, Troy.
