Aubrey Huff homers off Wily PeraltaSan Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain looked sharp in his Cactus League debut, but it was the Milwaukee Brewers who came away with a win 7-3 tonight at Scottsdale Stadium. [box score] [video highlights]

Cain pitched two solid innings, allowing just two hits and a walk. He tossed 31 total pitches.

Pinch hitter Zelous Wheeler blasted a mammoth two-run homer off Jeremy Affeldt in the 6th inning and former Giant Travis Ishikawa added a solo shot in the 9th.

A noticeably lean and fit-looking Aubrey Huff hit his first spring home run, a solo job off Wily Peralta, in the 4th inning.

In just their fourth exhibition contest, San Francisco (1-2-1) still looked somewhat sloppy on defense, committing a passed ball (Chris Stewart) and two errors—one by third baseman Pablo Sandoval and the other by Justin Christian in left field.

Ryan Braun did not play for Milwaukee (1-0-1).

Top hitter: Huff (1-for-2, RBI, HR)
Top pitcher: Yourkin (3 IP, 2 H)
Key moment: Wheeler’s game-tying 2-run blast in the 6th inning, ending a streak of 14 straight scoreless innings against Giants pitching.

The Giants will take on the Dodgers tomorrow afternoon (12:05 p.m. PT) at Camelback Ranch. Barry Zito will face Ted Lilly. The game will be broadcast on the MLB Network.

NOTES: Gregor Blanco, in the Giants’ camp as a non-roster invitee, went 1-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases. He almost had an inside-the-park homer last Thursday. This just in: Dude’s fast.  … Brett Pill went 1-for-3 with a double and is batting .444 this spring … With Huff at first, Brandon Belt played left field tonight. Belt could very well make the team as the Giants’ fourth outfielder. He looked smooth out there tonight … Buster Posey and Freddy Sanchez may be game-ready before the weekend, according to manager Bruce Bochy.
