Brown, Kieschnick reassigned to minors
The Giants whittled their spring training roster down a couple more spots today when they sent top prospect Gary Brown and Roger Kieschnick to their minor league camps.
Both outfielders are on the Giants’ 40-man roster and didn’t have a realistic shot at making the club’s 25-man Opening Day roster anyway. But it was definitely a good experience for them. Especially Brown, who is expected to take over the Giants’ everyday centerfield job in 2013 or 2014.

In seven games (11 spring at bats), the 23-year-old Brown batted .182 with a couple of singles and a stolen base.
Kieschnick, 25, was actually reassigned last night, after the Giants beat the Mariners—a game in which Kieschnick collected a two-run single. He finished the spring with a .250 batting average.
The Giants now have 53 players on their Cactus League roster (35 players from the 40-man roster and 18 non-roster invitees). Here’s the total breakdown of their current spring roster: 27 pitchers (17 roster players and 10 non-roster invitees), 5 catchers (4 roster and 1 non-roster invitee), 14 infielders (11 roster and 3 non-roster invitees) and 7 outfielders (3 roster and 4 non-roster invitees).
