For the second consecutive day, the Giants staged a late-inning comeback. This time, it was Conor Gillaspie and Juan Perez coming through in the clutch to give San Francisco a 5-2 Cactus League win over the San Diego Padres today at Peoria Sports Complex. [box score]
Gillaspie delivered a tie-breaking double in the 7th inning and Perez blasted his first spring homer in the 8th as San Francisco won its third straight game and improved its record to 4-2-1. The Padres fell to 1-5.
Giants starter Madison Bumgarner had his second straight solid performance of the spring, allowing just two hits and a walk in three scoreless innings of work. He struck out five.

The Giants are back at Scottsdale Stadium tomorrow to take on the Cincinnati Reds. Right-hander Matt Cain (0-0, 0.00) will square off against lefty Aroldis Chapman (0-0, 4.50). Buster Posey will make his spring debut. The game can be heard on MLB’s Game Day Audio Network.
NOTES: San Francisco hitters were 3-for-4 with runners in scoring position and are 15-for-32 (.469) over the past three games in those situations … Gregor Blanco (.364) went 2-for-3 today and stole two bases … The Giants stole four more bases today (out of eight attempts) … Emmanuel Burriss went 1-for-2 and is batting .500 (6-for-12) this spring … Giants reliever Andrew Kown gave up two home runs in the fourth inning to account for all of San Diego’s scoring … Ryan Vogelsong threw 25 pitches off a bullpen mound today for the first time since straining his back last month. He looked and felt fine.
