Giants host Padres today
Despite wet conditions in the Valley of the Sun, the San Francisco Giants (11-4-3) will face a San Diego Padres (8-8) split squad today at Scottsdale Stadium. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. (PT).
Left-hander Madison Bumgarner (0-1, 3.72) goes up against righty Edinson Volquez (0-0, 5.40).
Bumgarner will make his fourth start of the spring season. He has allowed four earned runs and has piled up 13 strikeouts over his first three starts (9.2 IP). MadBum took the loss in his most recent start against the Cubs on March 13 as he allowed three earned runs on seven hits in four innings.
Volquez was part of the trade in December that sent Mat Latos to Cincinnati.
The Giants and Padres meet today for the second of three Cactus League meetings between the two teams. Since 2003, San Francisco has won only one time against San Diego at Scottsdale Stadium (2009). The Giants have won 10 of their last 14 games overall.
The game can be heard on KNBR 680 AM..
