Spring Training 2012Barry Zito…League-leading…Wins?

Wait, what? Nope, that headline’s not a typo, dude. The Giants left-hander will try for this third win of the Cactus League season when San Francisco (8-4-2) visits the Seattle Mariners (10-3) tonight at Peoria Sports Complex at 7:05 p.m. (PT).

Erasmo Ramirez (1-0, 0.00) will take the hill for the M’s.

Zito (2-0, 3.60) is tied for the major league lead with two wins so far this spring. (And, there’s pink slime in your kids’ school lunch…what’s this world coming to?)

Tonight’s game can be seen in the Seattle area on the ROOT network and—for everyone else—heard free via a live web stream at MLB.com’s Media Center.

Pre-game notes: Also scheduled to pitch in tonight’s game are Shane Loux, Santiago Casilla, Heath Hembree, and Matt Yourkin … Manager Bruce Bochy‘s son, Brett Bochy (a 20th round draft pick in 2010), is on the list of relievers traveling with the Giants to Peoria … The Giants won the first meeting against the Mariners 7-5 on March 11 and hold a 28-20-1 advantage since 1997 (including 13-7-1 over their past 21 match-ups) … Ryan Vogelsong says he feels great after yesterday’s 50-pitch bullpen session. He will throw to live hitters as soon as Saturday and then work on pitcher’s fielding practice, bunting, etc. … Matt Cain‘s contract situation is still unresolved, but let’s not freak out, people. Read why I think there’s some serious drama going on in the Arizona desert right now.
