I could forget how evil he turned out to be and appreciate his young innocence. But we see what happens to him and what changes him. He is so easily corrupted, just by telling him that he is better than his father. The events that take place in this book are all because of Devin' s selfish need for power. There were outside forces that led to his downfall. But I think if he didn't have that inner conflict, he probably could have been stronger and not been led down that path. His father is a little confusing. He seemed like a semi-good person, trying to steer Devin on the right path, but he had ulterior motives. I thought the things that happened to Anna were bad, but her poor Mother! Well, I won't give anything away. You have to read the book, to get your discoveries. It is eye opening and really explains a lot about Devin.Another great book by Marissa Honeycutt, but too short. I wanted more and didn't want it to end. But there was a lot of information packed into this book. We get to see Alex and Anna, happily together. And Marissa as herself in the book. That was pretty cool and imaginative! Loved it! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. You made me feel for the monster! Well played Marissa, well played! By V. Westfall **This is not a stand alone book—If you have not read The Life of Anna, stop and go read it!**“Coming home to Anya last week had been like coming home. Her presence was a healing salve against the darkness that had begun to creep back into his heart while away.”Ok Marissa! We are going to have words! You made me feel sorry for Devin! ACK! After reading The Life of Anna, I wanted to give him and his Immortal buddy Kaveh chainsaw enemas!! But you took this monster and showed us how the darkness within was tamed by love, but also tainted by power, and finally destroyed by evil. Oh I wanted to toss my Kindle against the wall when I got to the end! WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! I MUST KNOW! YOU MUST WRITE MORE!Ok, so maybe this wasn’t my best review…more like a fangirl rant. But fans of The Life of Anna will totally get it. 5 plus stars! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A 5 star read for those who took The Life Of Anna journey! By peanut Wow, what a fantastic, creative author Marrisa is. I know you've read the synopsis and it will tell you as much as can be said without spoiling it for those that have yet to jump down the rabbit hole and read The Life Of Anna series! Only then will you understand the real Devin and how easily his greed and love for power let those even more powerful control him. Please believe me you need to read the series first! This is for the 18+ and those who like the dark reads.Dev still has the ability to make my heart pound in fear and hate. No sympathy from me for this guy but seeing Anna, Alex, And Peter helped balance my emotions!Yes Marissa, you sent my blood pressure soaring I the last few sentences, which I'm sure you meant to do! Checkmate my friend! See all 51 customer reviews...
