Best Review of Alice Will: Dreams Of Chaos Book 1:

It is filled with an abundance of unusual creatures. Then you have Trotter and Alice, who are wonderful characters. I absolutely adored the fact that a 14 year old girl and a 6 year old girl were the main characters in this story. I thought it was wonderful how when trouble hit the world and all was falling part that the only ones who could save everyone were Trotter and Alice.I was drawn to little Alice because she never had a real family. She never knew love. She was mistreated and nothing more than a servant until the Baron walked into her life. They both gave each other something they both needed in their lives. I loved how the Baron stood up for her and looked out for her. I found it sweet how she saw him as her grandfather. I also found her powers, as well as her book writing and imagination, to be both interesting and beautiful.Trotter and her trusty ‘cat’ Prowler was also an amazing pair. Trotter was a strong young woman struggling with the reality of having special gifts. Prowler was an unwavering friend and confident who kept her on her toes for sure. All Trotter wanted was the parents she never knew. That story in itself is awesome in the story line of this book.I love how against all odds and some extremely dangerous forces, Alice and Trotter were able to help each other and the rest of humanity from an almost certain disastrous fate. If you like young adult fantasy stories where the unexpected happens, check out Alice Will by Ashley Chappell! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful young adult fantasy By Talia Wong Alice Will is a - quite literally - fantastic young adult novel. Chappell has that unique skill of bringing absolute believability and humour to her fiction, which makes her characters compelling, fun and lovable. How can you not invest yourself in a guardian cat named Prowler? Or a young, mistreated orphan like Alice? And who among us can't relate to a teenage Trotter, who hasn't yet found self-acceptance? The magical creatures that fill the pages are Chappell's own inventions, which I greatly appreciate - rather than centaurs or satyrs we have Miro, a half-woman, half-octopus; rather than goblins, we have little demons like Arriman. There's no question that some of these beasts have drawn their inspiration from other writers (Diane Duane's many articulate cats come to mind), but there are many elements in Alice Will that are all their own.Highly recommended for readers both young and young at heart! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Not My Usual Genre, but a Wonderful Story! By Lillie S. I don’t usually read apocalyptic novels, but this one was an exception! By the second chapter, I was captivated by Miro and her fierce wisdom as well as Alice and her stark innocence. I was particularly drawn to poor, sweet Alice, to whom fate was not so kind. Alice’s circumstances actually reminded me a lot of that of young Cosette in Victor Hugo’s “Les Misérables.” I was drawn to Alice's relationship with the Baron and how they complimented one another. It took me a bit longer to come to love Trotter, but I did eventually come around. I especially loved the unique relationship Trotter had with Prowler, her feline friend. It was intriguing to see events unfold as Alice and Trotter faced the many challenges that confronted them. Ashley Chappell is an excellent writer with a fantastic imagination. I loved all the creatures introduced in this book. They were unique, to be sure, but that is okay. See all 49 customer reviews...
