Best Review of Blood Of The Faithful (righteous Series Book 8):

This is Book #8, so you shouldn't be starting here anyway!Michael Wallace's Righteous series has been full of surprises. What started out as a murder mystery (though one with a unique premise) eventually became a story of (possibly) the end of days. What has carried the series through these shifts is the strength of the characters and the consistent themes of faith, family, and responsibility.I expected Blood of the Faithful to continue in the epic apocalyptic vein of the last book, Hell's Fortress. However, this is a more personal story that is mainly centered in Blister Creek itself. Initially I was disappointed, but as the book continued I realized that this was exactly right. The entire series and our characters lives have been anchored here, and it is only fitting that as the story draws to a close we return to the heart of it all.Jacob continues to struggle with his role as the Prophet, but is feeling more and more isolated as his support system seems to be falling in to the fundamentalism that he has been fighting against. As the outside world crumbles around Blister Creek, Jacob's personal life is crumbling as well. Jacob must deal with his spiritual struggles as well as the continuing crises in the physical world.Michael Wallace provides us with no easy answers. The reader is left to make up their own mind about these struggles of faith, and that is much appreciated. The ending is satisfying, and if this is truly the end of the series it is fitting.Obviously fans of the series will read this on their own, but as a fellow fan I wanted to assure others that Blood of the Faithful will not disappoint. 5 stars, and a final thank you to Michael Wallace for such a thrilling and thought provoking saga. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Blood of the Faithful By Under the Empryean Sky, I feel like I should say goodbye Jacob, Fernie, David, Eliza et al. Characters in this eight book series, but more than characters...they became friends that you want to check in from time, have some peach ice cream and catch up on what exciting things have happened in their lives...and to check on Jacob, the burden bearer to find out what issues he is struggling with. In a previous review I commented how Michael Wallace has created characters that you want to revisit again and again, he certainly did not disappoint in that s last book...so far...of this series. There was a ray of hope when Mr.Wallace indicated there is a small chance that he might revisit Blister Creek and all my friends there. I truly hope this comes to fruition and we get the chance to sit down once again with these old friends and hear their latest story. This is truly one of the best written series. It pushes all the buttons, it's engaging, compelling, enthralling, exciting...and the list could go on and on. Please don't let this be the end of the Blister Creek saints! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A fitting conclusion. ... By sparky5805 The release of this book was very bittersweet for me. I've loved this series and hate to see it end. That being said I loved the book, it was a very fitting conclusion to the series. I've enjoyed each book and if you haven't read the others don't start here - start with the first book or you'll be hopelessly lost. Each book grows and expounds on the previous one. I've enjoyed these books not only for the story, but also for the history and the view into LDS and polygamy. I'll miss Jacob and Eliza, they're like old friends I've looked forward to hearing from. They've gotten me hooked on Michael Wallace's writing and I always look forward to reading his other books as eash one comes out. See all 56 customer reviews...
