By L Fleetwood After reading Budget: $mall Changes Big Reward$ by Heidi Farrelly I now realise after 30 years of managing my own money that I've been using the wrong budget! I love how the author explains and discusses the different types of budgets in an easy to read, and often amusing way - she makes reading about finances interesting and fun. Using the right budget will save thousands and thousands of dollars for the person willing to try their hand at the one that works the best for them.As the author says 'I always wrote the budget that I wanted, rather than the one then worked'. Is this you? It was me. This book is for people who want to budget but don't know where to start, who suck at budgets but maybe just need to find the right one for them - this is a must read for those wanting to get ahead, break their bad spending habits, and to actually work out where all their money is going. Also great for young adults and college students wanting to start their financial life ahead of the game. After reading it prompted many discussions with my older teenage children about budgeting - never too late to start thinking about your finances and start having more money for the things you love to do! 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Your Definitive Guide to Budgeting and Saving cash that Gives You More Freedom! By Scott B. Allan I'll confess right now…I've never been one for budgeting. Rather my life has been a frivolous shopping spree with little restraint when it came to money planning or spending within my limit. I really gained a lot of respect for budgets after reading this book, and actually have much better confidence in my money handling abilities now that I've found a book that makes a budget both realistic and fun to do. The author has obviously done a lot of deep research into the topic and is a great teacher for the topic. The chapters are extremely well organized and especially chapter ten, has lots of useful diagrams and worksheets that are also downloadable to help with getting the budgeting under control. I love how this book is not just a "good read" but actually gets you doing the work as you work through it.The other critical topics Heidi covers are:+ The Mindset of the budgeter and why we don't budget: understanding your own mindset towards this is the key to letting yourself start to budget so you can have more money.+ Creating Budgeting Goals: the budgets that work are the ones with goals attached.+ Non Traditional Budgets:+ The budgets that suit you best+ Budget apps: This is a great addition to the book because you can track your expenses and budgeting goals while on the move!Overall this book is a definite gem if you want to save money, pay off your mortgage or save enough to take that trip around the world you have been dreaming about for years but never had the cash for. I am looking forward to working on this everyday diligently one step at a time. Very happy to have found such a great book to help out with something that I've always struggled with. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. After reading, I know my next steps By er Here's the problem with most budgeting books and books on finance. They tell you why it matters.I don't care about that. I already know why I care, and why I'm stressed out and anxious about my money. What I need to know is HOW to fix my problems and make sure they don't occur int he future. So for that alone, thanks Heidi! You sure drop some knowledge and tell readers exactly how to do their budgeting, and even with non-traditional and creative and innovative ways. After all, that's all we are looking for with this book, isn't it? And it delivers, big time. See all 35 customer reviews...
By Lauren R Martin I've been budgeting for years, but the same thing always happens - I do my budget, I'm all keen and excited, then a few months later I've run out of steam and I stop tracking my spending, start 'tapping-and-going' again and it all goes out the window. How refreshing to learn that you can do budgets so differently! There is a budget in this book to suit everyone, and some of them don't even require expenses to be tracked. I loved the idea of the 'Bootcamp' budget and the 'Spend and Save' budget but for me, the 'Bucket List' budget is the one I'm going to try. This is a great book full of really practical, helpful how-to guides and advice. Well worth a look. From the Author Brilliant Budgets and Despicable Debt is the book I wish I'd had as a young adult. It teaches good financial habits and sets the groundwork for success in every area of your life. It is never too late to learn how to budget and pay off debt, and if you've struggled in either of these areas before, then I think you'll love my fresh take, and useful tips and tricks.Brilliant Budgets and Despicable Debt contains all my favourite ways to create and use budgets, pay off, and stay out of debt, as well as tips and tricks for staying on track and achieving your goals. I loved writing this book as at made me reassess how people see money, how important their time is, and how to combat these and other issues. I hope this book encourages you to not only reach for your goals, but to achieve them! About the Author Heidi Farrelly is a bestselling finance author from 'down under'.
