Donna Grant was one of the first paranormal authors I found after looking for more reads to quench my post-Twilight thirst about nine years ago and I fell in love with her worlds immediately. I always look forward to more from her and this novella was just as amazing as I knew it would be.A sexy dragon king, Paris, secrets, danger, and bourbon…what else can a gal ask for? From the very beginning, I was glued to this story. I adored these two characters and was a nervous wreck for the situation they were in. A dragon king trying to keep his existence a secret and a determined journalist on a mission to expose them. It was almost an impossible situation…almost. This is a perfect example of opposites attracting and oh my how I loved it. Asher is sexy, smart, worldly, and has no desire to be a part of this dog and pony show. A worthy distraction walks in in the form of a stunning woman with intrigue in spades. The chemistry and heat were off the charts from the start and seeing these two evolve from something purely physical to realizing fate has a hand in what’s happening between them, and in a word, it was magic.Of course, there is plenty of suspense along with the heat. I was so worried Asher would be found out and any budding romance between he and Rachel would be squashed. Luckily, Donna Grant has such an amazing way of having even the most bleak moments turn out better than I could have imagined.Thank you, Ms. Grant, for another spellbinding read! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Asher By andrewsheath Asher sure is a possessive, alpha man, “the first time was too quick,” he murmured as he nipped at her lips. “I’m going to brand myself on you so that whenever you dress, wash, or even think of being with someone else, all you’ll feel, see, and want is me.” I loved Asher he was protective and sweet at times. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Loved Asher and Rae! Perfect shortnovel By Cinzia Labo' "Dragon Fever" is a perfect short- novel to introduce the Dark Kings’ world to the readers who don’t know this extraordinary paranormal romance series written by Donna Grant, but it’s also perfect for those who love the Dragon Kings. Why perfect? Simply because despite being the # 9.5 story of the series, in a few pages the author manages to present the all the history of the Dragon Kings, the most important things happened to them in the series, very clearly, and thus shows how amazing is that world. In this way the story can really be read as a standalone, but I'm sure new readers after reading "Dragon Fever" will desire to read the story from its beginning. Those who have already read the other books will discover a wonderful new Dragon King in Asher.I loved him. Asher is charismatic and seductive as protagonist and his has this irresistible Scottish accent.Con the King of Kings sent Asher to an international exhibition about whisky as a representative of Dreagan, their land, and to attend the event with their famous whisky. It is a difficult time for the Dragon Kings, due to the continuous attempts of their enemies to reveal their existence to humans, creating the danger of triggering panic and new conflicts. They have come to light things and partial truths and the reporters wants to find out new informations. Asher thanks to his personality and ability to manage the media is able to keep everything under control, until accidentally knows a mysterious woman who picks his interest.Rae is a journalist who loves to hunt uncomfortable truths, she wants to reveal everything to the public. She hates the Dragon Kings, she knows very well who Asher is and his true nature, her informant was able to provide to give her the chance to meet one of them and find out more details for her article. But something unexpected upsets Rae’s plans: Asher is not what she expected, he is not a cold and calculating monster, but everything she discovers remaining in contact with him, shakes her confidence, and in spite of herself she becomes a victim of charm of this immortal creature and she feels a deep connection with him.Asher has the gift of being able to convey all his emotions, which are bittersweet, his longing for Dreagan, the bond so intense for his land and the constant feelings of emptiness in his life for the lack of his dragons. For her part I liked a lot Rae because she doesn’t carried away from her goal to reveal the truth at all costs, but she faces Asher, she asks questions and challenges him.Their story is full of passion, but also tenderness, desire to know each other and give themself a chance for what they’re feeling. In "Dragon Fever" Ulrik, the sworn enemy of Con and all the Dragon Kings is really out of control, because of his thirst for vengeance, yet despite everything he does and has done, because of he was in the past, Ulrik is the character in this series in which I feel more connected to, I always hope in a twist, in a miracle that change things, but I think now he's reached a point of no return. The one with I have a rather difficult relationship is Con, he is always so full of secrets you do not know whether to hate him or love him for his choices and above all I don’t understand if he always puts first the Dragon Kings’ interest. He’s an enigma.I was intrigued withthe figure of Ms Engel, the story about her is leaving many open questions, why she’s so bind to the Kings, being protective with them, despite being only human. I hope sooner or later there’ll be room also to find out a little more about her. After so many books my enthusiasm for this story is in no way diminished, in fact, every time I literally devour the pages of each story and I can’t wait to find out what will happen in the future.
