22gigantes.com - Anastasia Mikhelson is the rising star of the New York City Ballet. She’s sacrificed creature comforts, a social life, as well as her own physical well-being for perfection in dance. Even her reputation as The Ice Queen doesn’t faze her. Though Ana’s at the peak of her career, competition from a new and noteworthy dancer puts all she’s worked for in jeopardy. While Natalie Frederico has shown herself to be a prodigy when it comes to ballet, she much prefers modern dance and living on her own terms. Life is too short for anything else. However, when the opportunity to dance with the New York City Ballet is thrust upon her, it’s not like she could say no. Dealing with the company’s uptight lead is another story, however. When the two are forced to work side-by-side, sparks begin to fly onstage and off.

This one started a bit slow, and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get into it. That worry disappeared around the third chapter. I was a bit worried that this book would be a big struggle between the two main characters for one position, but the turn that took was actually rather enjoyable. It created an atmosphere that engendered cooperation and support between Ana and Natalie, allowing them to grow closer. I also love those stories about a character who is emotionally isolated, who is then drawn out of her shell by our other heroine. It's like something in Natalie allows Ana to loosen up and reach outside her comfort zone. At the same time, something about Ana pushes Natalie into growing up and realizing that she has responsibilities. Watching her move from shallow party girl who doesn't want to sell out to someone who stays because she's made a commitment is a wonderful story arc. The other part of the story is what happens after someone who has made their life out of their passion no longer has the ability to engage in that passion. The career-ending injury that occurs may not have been what was expected, but it's no less devastating. The events after leave both women devastated and unsure how to move forward. It was wonderful to see how they got back to each other. I also really enjoyed seeing some of the characters from previous books; it was nice to see old friends. If you've liked previous Melissa Brayden books, this will be another hit for you.I received a copy of this book from Inked Rainbow Reads for review. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Another Solid Book By TGhost Quick Summary: Ana has been with the prestigious New York Ballet company for the last 9 years moving up through the ranks. In comes Natalie from the West Coast, part ballet dancer and part modern dancer who is a wild child compared to traditional Ana. When Natalie gets invited to not only be a part of the NY Ballet company but to be cast alongside Ana, sparks fly for the two opposites.I’m a big fan of this author. I want to get that out there first because I have read every book of hers and have enjoyed them all, which I only do with a select few. Go out and buy her books.Just like all of her characters, these too had no problems with chemistry on the pages. Ana and Natalie are the perfect type of opposites, who by the end of the book have helped shape each other in to better people. That’s all I want for romance characters and I’m happy when an author has the talent to bring that out. Both of these characters are likable separate but when they get together their dialogue is perfectly cute. The relationship also had a nice flow to it from friendship in to more. They got to know each other and found attraction before declaring any feelings so it didn’t come out of nowhere. I maybe wish there had been a little more adjustment/negativity/pressure of the outside world when the two of them got together, but that’s small and nit picky. My recommendation: Buy it. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Another great book from Melissa Brayden By Kellie This is a Brayden book - you just know it's going to be a great novel before you start reading...Ana has always aspired to be the best ballerina through hard work and dedication. Her technique is like no other, however she is very rigid and proper.Natalie is a carefree spirit who loves variety when it comes to dancing. She doesn’t have the same perfection to match Ana's technique, however what she lacks she makes up for in spirit and passion.Ana and Natalie are given co-leads for an upcoming ballet show. They must train together and teach each other their different styles of dance. The writing was very well thought out and rounded. Ana jumped off the pages as a cold, clinical person whom so easily had others referring to her as "Frozen". It wasn't until the bubbly Natalie came into her world that she started to melt… (pardon the pun)I really do enjoy Brayden's work. Her novels are always well researched and the pacing in the books are spot on.It was nice to see a cameo toward the end of a couple of familiar names from the Soho series :-)*ARC provided by publisher via NetGalley* See all 10 customer reviews...
