By Irina Mel D Wow…where do I start! I just finished reading ‘In The Light of the Full Cold Moon’ by Author Susan Elizabeth Girard, a sweet, kind and beautiful soul. What a beautiful relaxing read. It took me into a whole different world, a world I would absolutely love to live in. A world of peace, happiness, relaxation, meditation and where everyone gets along no matter of religion or race. She writes of this sweet, loving girl Savannah who has been suffering from anxiety most of the time (which I can relate to), it was so bad that she couldn’t sleep most nights. She had learned about meditation and decided to give it a go and eventually it started working for her. She was taken into the mystical forest each time she was meditating. There she met all kinds of people that were just like her, seeking peace, happiness and answers to their questions. Ratiffa (which surprisingly reminded her so much of her Grandma) introduced Savannah to everyone in the forest. Savannah learned of each one and their talents as well as different religions. She learned that even though they were all so different they all got along because they shared something universal, God and love for one another. She learned how they were all doing their best to preserve nature, the forest, animals and how to live by cultivating the land, gardening, preparing the veggies in summer for the winters ahead, making soap and other things that they all needed everyday to live in the forest. I particularly loved the part where she met Jesus and learned of his love and sacrifice for humanity so that we can all be saved and have hope for eternal life.As a Christian I had to read some parts of the book with a very open mind. I loved reading about the simple, natural life in the forest, how Ratiffa would cook beautiful meals from the veggies that grew in the garden. As a vegetarian I loved the part where Ratiffa talked about eating veggies, fruits, and anything plant based and leave the animals to serve other useful purposes, especially the pigs who would feed on the rubbish and scraps of the forest, kind of like a vacuum cleaner :) Such a peaceful, simple life! This book is ideal for those that are suffering from anxiety or those who tend to worry about everything all the time because it goes into how meditation helps to relax the mind and take you into a relaxed, calm state where you rest your mind. We live in a fast-paced world full of stress, fear and anxiety about the future and this book will help us to take a ‘much needed’ break for our mind. This book certainly took me into a different world and if my eyes were 100% healthy I would probably of read it in one sitting! A wonderful book, wonderfully written and a lot of research and hard work has gone into it. Congratulations Susan on an amazing book! I have also bought the paperback copy and can’t wait to receive it and read it all over again :) 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Spiritual Guidebook with Amazing Insights By Becca Chopra In the Light of the Full Cold Moon by Susan Elizabeth Girard is a story of spiritual exploration and healing. In this novel, Girard’s protagonist Savannah goes into meditative “vision states” or astral travels into another dimension of the rainforest where she meets and learns from a wise shaman, a Muslim, Chief Dan George, Jesus, a messianic Jew, a Buddhist, a Hindu, a Taoist, Archangels and other guides. She learns the importance of preserving nature and Mother Earth and keeping spirituality alive. The book is full of a wide range of historical religious doctrine, philosophical musings, and an unflagging sense of joy in winding one’s way through both the Sacred Coastal Rainforest and the sacred within us all.An important realization that is shared is that religions don’t matter; in fact, most have similar truths at their core. “Goodness comes in many forms,” says one of Savannah’s mentors in the forest.Savannah learns she is an Intuitive Empathic Healer, which is why on her spiritual path she feels the suffering of others. In learning how to use her gifts, she provides us with this spiritual guidebook containing many amazing insights. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. This book will touch your heart, make you think and maybe make you a better person By P.S. Winn I really enjoyed the journey of this book, I have to say you should read this with an open mind to life and spirituality. I have both and think the author must have an incredible open mindedness and a loving soul. Readers meet Savannah, a woman who is having a hard time just making it through the days of her life. We all have felt the way the woman does I think.Using a bit of meditation mixed with a bit of supernatural mixed in, Savannah takes a journey. Ratiffa is Savannah's main guide, but she is aided in her journey by people by all walks and faiths in order to know only help herself, but to find a way to help others and earth itself. The author has done an amazing job combing spiritual teachings with a novel of hope, struggle and enlightenment. Whether you believe in the spiritual side of things or not I still think this book will touch your heart and make you think about how we all act toward our fellow human beings and the earth we all share.
