Lots of characters, lots of twists By bass player 61 At first, I was not overly impressed by the first chapter or two, which came across as somewhat disjointed. But after a few more chapters, it really began to come together with more polish and finesse, and quickly turns into quite an exciting and intense action/adventure. Virtually all characters are kind of seedy, so you don't really know who can be trusted. Makes for a roller coaster ride of events... shootouts, burglaries, evading several teams of bad guys and girls, stolen cars, and more shootouts. The author deftly ties together the overlapping relationships of multiple characters as the story line progresses, and it all builds up to a finale that involves all the main players. Good quick read, with a pretty decent plot. Quick pace that kept me interested. 10 of 11 people found the following review helpful. ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS, By Sylvia Banschbach I don't give many five star ratings, but this had me anxiously reading way into the nights to see how it all came out. Two different scenarios, weapons dealers and drug runners tie together so nicely in the end. You don't know who is with whom while you're reading through the twists and turns. You will come to love the two main characters, who have been thrown together accidentally to cooperate in trying to solve the mystery of the situation they find themselves in. They are always in a fix of one kind or another, as the story fascinatingly unfolds. Many other colorful characters come to light to round it all out perfectly. The cartel is a touch bunch to deal with, having no mercy for anyone. Great story; talented author. Get this book and enjoy a couple of relaxing days, being thankful you're not in the characters' shoes yourselves for real! 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Drugs, Guns and Sand By Rick Allen Lippert The only time I stopped reading this book was to sleep. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and just couldn't put it down. A fun, quick read that features an unlikely pair of protagonists and a herd of secondary characters. Plus, it has gun-running, dug-dealing and greasy diners on both sides of the Rio Grande. Add to that the ever-present sand in that part of Texas, and you know you're reading a story from an author who knows the territory. See all 112 customer reviews...
