It's fast-paced and well written. The two main characters both have really interesting backstories. Jason has been one of my favorite characters the few times he's been in the previous books. He seems to have struggled more than some of his siblings and for some reason I've found that endearing. This was a nice story about letting go of the past and moving forward.I gave it four out of five stars because it all just seemed a little too easy. I guess I was hoping for a little more out of his book. I just thought two main characters with such dark pasts seemed to deal with things a little too perfectly. We hear about Faith's time with the motorcycle club, but not much, and she really doesn't have any issues with it. I felt like that was an opportunity missed. The same goes for Jason's addiction. I had been looking forward to his story because I had imagined there would be this story of a great struggle, but it hardly gets a mention. It's just referred to in the past that he was an addict and got clean and now he goes to meetings. It felt like the interesting parts of the story all happened in the past and we missed them. And it's not just that we missed them, it's that they barely left any emotional scars on the main characters. They handle all the crazy events going on around them rather easily. This is no way ruined the book for me. It's just a way I thought it could have been better. Four out of five is still really good in my opinion. It's definitely worth reading and this is a good addition to it. I look forward to the next one. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. An enjoyable read, could be developed more By N1kita You could say that I’ve been pining about him since he first showed up. Well, other than Joseph the assassin. I wanted to know what his story was, how he struggled and could survive as a better person. Not just his addiction story, but also how he dealt with the aftermath of his captivity. I was ready for “dark” book, yet enlightening and encouraging. However, although this was one good fully enjoyable book, I didn’t get what I hope for. There was no real struggling to be seen. It all had been said and done, and now just look at the future. It’s good, don’t stick in the past, look up to the future and so on, but I felt this book was so light in terms of issues it should adhere. I wanted to know how he could survive and live life normally. I have an ex-addict friend and I’ve been through some traumatic event (not as traumatic as being captive in enemy’s hand, mind you), so I know how hard it is to face live sometimes.I happened to remember that this problem (for me, at least) also exist in the first book (Jacob) with the heroine. There was like nothing really bad happened to her, yet it did. I chalked it up as she’s an extremely strong heroine. After this book though, I think Ms. Michaels was shy to really delve in heavy emotional baggage related to post traumatic events.Again, I still think this was an enjoyable book, thus the four stars. It’s really not a hardship to read this through. I just had a problem with something that I don’t really have a right. It’s really an author right for which part of the story was being told.I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated nor required to write positive reviews. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Kirs Michaels is on my list of favorite authors. By Sherry Kirs Michaels is on my list of favorite authors.. I have to say there are parts that I get bogged down in and I feel like I have ADHD or the book is taking too long (ok, I am impatient.. lol).. so I skim over those sections.. and i say, when I finish the book, I will not read the next.. WELL I LIED.. The stories that connect all the characters is incredible. Although they are stand alone stories, you truly must read from the beginning of the series to understand why things are happening.. I am SO thankful I started with book 1 -- so worth it..
