Yet many small businesses do survive, thrive, and even defeat major corporations by leveraging their unique advantages. This is now possible with the advent of the Internet and globalisation. Many modern corporate giants such as Google, Facebook, Amazon and Ebay were unknown minnows ten years ago. How did they win the game against the corporate killer whales? Meanwhile, many big companies have collapsed like a house of cards because they are over-leveraged and inflexible. Small is the new big; small is beautiful; small is “the new normal”. “Small is the New Big” examines many cases where small companies have defeated giants. It also describes how small companies can surmount the mountains of competition, by using time-tested strategies to emerge victorious over the giants.

Encouraging insights for small companies By Jason I am impressed that a simple Bible story about David and Goliath can be loaded with so much business wisdom. The author has cleverly used a renown story to share how a small company can beat the big boys. This is very true today. Most successfully businesses such as Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, Google etc started as small companies from garage operations. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Small is the future By Britanica I see that small companies are recruiting and employing people. But big companies are downsizing to reduce corporate fats. After reading the book, I got a better understanding. Small is more flexible and faster. And they make up for it by being more innovative. All corporate giants today started small. So the argument in the book is hard to dispute. But what is more interesting is that it shares how the small do so and beat the big at its game. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Small businesses - there is hope By maria_zero I run a small business and find this book very inspiring. If all the garage companies such as Amazon vs Borders, Nokia vs Motorola, Apple vs Nokia, Google vs Yahoo etc can do it. Why not the small guys like us to take on the giants. I am confident that the principles shared in the book will work for me. There are even guidelines on how to do so. A rare book indeed. Also, it makes for interesting reading using the David vs Goliath story. See all 23 customer reviews...
