TOO MUCH GOING ON By gayle pace REVIEW I haven't read any other books from this author so I was looking forward to reading something by an author I didn't know. I was a little disappointed. They were thrilling and fun but so slow and I didn't feel any real sense of getting into the book. I could really find what the real point of the book was. There is so much going on at one time, that I found it hard to follow and there doesn't seem to be any connection to the characters and then to the storyline. We have bounty hunters, bail jumpers, devil worshippers, heavy metallers, beautiful singer, corrupt cops, ex mob hit man and so many others. Just too many characters and not much of a connection. I'm hoping the author uses some of the same characters in his next book and puts a real connection to the storyline, letting the reader understand and get to know the characters. I received a complimentary copy of SPEED METAL BLUES from the author, Dave Stanton and Outskirts Press for my view of the book. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. hold you down tightly and you'llwatch the pages turn and turn and turn some more ... By Coco Given To Me For An Honest Speed Metal Blues: A Dan Reno Novel by Dave Stanton is a real page turner. Make sure that you have your seatbelt on because you're in for the trip of your life. Once you open this book, it will grab you, hold you down tightly and you'll watch the pages turn and turn and turn some more until you get to the last one. You will even experience twists and turns and not believe them. Dan Reno and Cody, his ex-cop buddy are back. Dan is trying to make is as a PI and bounty hunter. He has been asked to find two accused rapists. Reno thinks ... no problem... but little does he know. As you read this book, you'll feel as though you are being drawn in and become a part of this story. I really enjoyed reading this book. Now, I must warn you ..... this book does have much more violence that the previous books. So be sure that you make a note of it. Other than that one thing, I highly recommend this book to everyone. I look for more from Dan Stanton. 8 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Dan and Cody are Back But Not As Entertaining as Before By Michael A. Newman This review is based on a free reviewer copy I received by reflects my own opinion.Having read and having highly enjoyed Stateline and Dying for the High Life, I looked forward to this third story of Dan Reno. While those books were fun and thrill packed throughout, this book was mostly slow and never really had the tension that the other two did.The reader is not really sure what the main point of this book is about as it does not focus on any main storyline. Dan is hired as a "bounty hunter" to find Jason Loohan, a bail-jumper who is very dangerous. Loohan seems to "maybe" have joined up with some heavy metal types or maybe some devil worshippers. The story also focuses on a high school student that Dan and Cody are helping out for his school presentation and his sister Teresa, who has an amazing singing voice. There are also some corrupt cops (like the prior Stanton novels) and some goings on at Pistol Pete's Casino now run by John Switten though a Tuma is involved in the background. Switten has a mentally challenged son, who is an excellent drummer. Switten is also, an ex-mob hitman who relocated to Lake Tahoe and tried to get out of the business but financial issues have got him back helping the mob.As described above, there is just too much going on at the same time and not everything ties together. I hope that the next book in the series can recapture what the first two books had. See all 66 customer reviews...
