A Truly Good Book By Amazon Customer To paraphrase Henry David Thoreau, an indifferent book inspires one to read, while a truly good book inspires one to action. I believe this book fulfills the requirement of a "truly good book". It has inspired me to act and not just think. It has made a supporter of Friends of the Children out of me. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Duncan's story is a moving reminder of the healing power of relationships and an excellent illustration of the social entrepreneur's journey. --David Bornstein, The New York TimesI don't casually toss words around like 'brilliant' and 'unique', but what Campbell did is brilliant and unique. What he created in Portland could change the way this country tries to help children. --Gary Walker, Former President, Public/Private VenturesDuncan Campbell has toiled for decades to give these kids a chance to achieve big things. Personally, he is a modest man, but I have seen firsthand how his quiet style has produced a legacy of powerful, constructive change. --U.S. Senator Ron Wyden About the Author DUNCAN CAMPBELL is the founder of Friends of the Children and an active philanthropist.
