22gigantes.com - When adventurer Jason Lewis regained consciousness beside a busy Colorado highway, lower limbs shattered by a hit-and-run driver, he knew he was lucky to be alive. But would he ever walk again, let alone finish crossing North America by inline skates? So begins part two of The Expedition, a stirring saga of hope, determination, and the kindness of strangers as Jason, taken in by the people of Pueblo, spent nine months in rehabilitation, legs pieced together with metal rods, before returning to the spot he was run over and continuing on.Inspired by the journey, others sought to join, including a middle-aged mother-cum-schoolteacher yearning to see the world. For the expedition wasn’t just a line on a map. The real expedition was the seed buried deep in the heart of anyone who has ever dreamed of knowing what lies beyond their valley, and of embarking upon a grand adventure to find out…

By Amazon Customer You might think that there would be little to write about when you are in a tiny boat for months at sea, but Jason Lewis does a fantastic job of making his expedition come to life. I appreciate that he decided to tell everything as it was (as far as I can tell), even the very personal details of his love life.Although they used the expedition to shine some light on green living, that wasn't a major topic throughout the entire book. I support the green movement, but don't want to be badgered about it.I will definitely read the third book in the series as the first two were inspiring and exciting. The story always has an unexpected turn just a chapter away. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great Second Book In This Adventure Series; Lots of Crazy Stuff Happens as He Heads Across the Pacific By Spencer in Seattle This is the second book in this three-part adventure series, and it's just as good as the first. Lewis tells the tale, in this book, of how he made it out of San Fran, down south, and then out across the Pacific. The book is just so well balanced, focusing on the adventure, the people involved, and Lewis's ongoing internal/spiritual development. Man this journey took some guts! It also took a lot of planning, fund raising, networking, etc.One thing I was surprised by in this book, as opposed to the first one, is just how many people were involved in the journey. Instead of being a singular, solitary journey/trip, Lewis tells the story of it being a team effort. That matches up very well with his spiritual outlook, and makes for an even more interesting book.I've read a lot of adventure literature, and this book-series is at the top of my list! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Looking forward to Book 3 By Clair de la Lune I live in Pueblo, CO, where Jason Lewis was hit and left on the shoulder of I-25. I feel I should apologize to Jason for this inhumane disregard for his life. Luckily, Parkview Hospital and its staff were able to put him back together and he was able to continue his round-th-the-world person-powered quest. And decided to settle in this area.Jason's books are written as if the reader and he were sharing a beer at the local pub. Well worth reading for anyone with a sense of adventure, a sense of humor and a strong stomach. It's amazing what you can do if you just decide to do it, plan well and have good friends and strangers to help out along the way. His en-route video chats with classrooms add depth to his adventure.
