Wonderful Tale with character and action By Sparta The author is highly effective in building a plot that does not fail, creating an interesting set of characters, detailing the setting and scene we are viewing clearly. I love the action, the conspiring royality, the betrayals, honestly this is a really well paced and balanced tale. It has enough military action to keep me interested, the story has well rounded characters and a fun plot. The narrative about the book gives enough of the plot line for you to see if you like that sort of thing, so no spoilers from me. If you are looking for hard science this book is not for you. It is for the reader that wants a credible plot full of action and fighting. I actually liked the cover art which is in the spirit of one of the scenes we read about. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Its a fun read By Robert J. Lindeman It reminded me of an early Asimov book that I enjoyed. You gotta love it when nearly everything goes the protaganist's way, if it is written well that is. And this book is written well. 2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Don't judge a book by its cover... By Tony I'd give 4.5 stars if possible. It worth a lot more than the asking price.I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Charlie's storyline. In some ways it was pretty standard/classic, but there were some interesting twists. The writing was good, but felt rushed at times. I'm sure The 13th Man could have been expanded into more than one book and still been excellent if some of the parts that were skipped or not explained in detail were filled in.The cover is the worst part of this book and quite unrepresentative of the content. I only noticed two typos and a few instances where the tag was screwed up. My only other complaint is that the bad guys were all very stereotypical/one-dimensional/cardboard cut-outs.
