It reminded me of some key events that happened the day before so I could get maximum enjoyment out of the new story. Besides, 19 is pretty awesome so it was worth the second read. But 20? Well, we should know a bit about what to expect by now. As Cookey might explain it, they brewed up, then people they thought were dead, really aren’t, and Lilly is so much more than anyone thought … and Gypsies … and Blowers is such a good leader … and Maddox is a Cee yoU Next Tuesday … and Blinkey’s got a mouth on her … and they get into a scrap and Kyle is not just a cook. Then Charlie needs some horse stuff and there are horse people … and Reggie starts to figure some important things out and then they get into a really big scrap and Maddox is REALLY a Cee yoU Next Tuesday … and there are tears and I mean, lots of them. The strength of this series are the characters we love, and they’re all there just as clearly drawn as they’ve been in the previous books. I have never read a series this long before, usually growing too bored to stick with them through book after book. And I’ve never had this level of enjoyment from reading stories for a second time. So much happens, it’s like watching a favorite movie for a second or third time. You’re not bored. You’re just seeing more things you missed the first time.I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of these guys. I love them all and love spending hours and hours with them. What always surprises me … and maybe by now it shouldn’t surprise … is how deeply and realistically RR Haywood draws each and every one of them. We understand completely why Mo Mo is the perfect team member to be ‘Dave Trained’ and we know exactly what that term means. We get why Charlie is so posh, why Roy searches for just the right bow, why Howie needs Marcy and why he falls into those dark and brooding moods. And we know why Paula is the one they go to when someone needs a chat or a hug. Believe me, after reading this, I wished I had a Paula to talk it over with. And it’s obvious that just the hint of losing one of them causes great sadness. In terms of the infection, how it came about, what it means to each member of the team, I’m not sure I care anymore. I fear that any explanation for it won’t make much sense and why should it? It’s the apocalypse.Day 20 is another great day in The Undead series. Well worth every penny. Thank you, thank you, thank you, boss (RR Haywood) for keeping me so entertained! Now off I go to The Living Army Facebook page to discuss! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Amazing Addition to the Undead Saga By Jenn H As with all the books in the series, the action is palpable and the relationships shine through.Howie and Dave and the Living Army continue on their journey to bring the fight to the Undead and work hard to do the right thing for the right reasons. If you love all things Undead, join The Living Army Facebook group. By bebe I have listened to this entire series (after becoming hooked with a short stand alone story that I got for free on Audible.com). First I listened to the books that were on Audible.com. When I ran out of those, I switched to Kindle to continue with the series. I am a huge fan of Undead. The characters are as real to me as my neighbors - even more so! I love them all and cannot pick a favorite. After saying I loved all of the previous books, I must say that I loved Day Twenty the most. It is awesome. Our usual gang is there and Paco McQuire comes back into the story. The book that featured Paco was excellent and Day Twenty, where he comes back, is even better. In this book the Living Army leaves the Fort to get supplies. They have a couple of relatively minor skirmishes, save some people, get even with some people and gather necessary and unnecessary supplies in a yuppy suburb. Of course all hell breaks loose and the Living Army go into a battle that is desperate - probably the most desperate to date. Something very strange and moving happens at the end involving Simon Blowers. I know it will seem like forever before Day 21 comes out and we can find out what happens next. If you have not read or listened to this series, I urge you to do so. I listen to it first and the reader was excellent. I believe his name is Dan Morgan. Now that I am reading the books on Kindle, it is still the Audible.com reader's voice that I hear in my head. I suggest anyone just getting to this series listen to a couple of the Audible.com books first. The first Audible book covers Days 1 through 3, the second book covers Days 2 through 6. After you get a feel for the voices used in the Audible books, then it is okay to switch to the less expensive Kindle books. I believe hearing Dan Morgan's voice in your head makes it more enjoyable when reading the Kindle versions. Recently I read that a new reader is going to handle future Audible books, so I am not going to listen to any more of the Audible. I think I would be very disappointed not to hear the original Audible reader. I am happy now with my Kindle versions with Dan Morgan's accents in my head. Some things I enjoyed about Day Twenty: Mo Mo being Dave trained; the very witty dialog between the various characters; the bonding of the female characters doing "girly things"; the wonderful animal characters Jess and Meredith, aka "Bear": and Paco's new personality.I did not like Maddox in this book, but that is not a book flaw - it is part of the story line.Wow - I am so hooked on this series and RR Haywood's gift for writing, characters development and storytelling. I have enjoyed this series more than any I have become hooked on, including Jack Reacher, Lucas Davenport, Prescott/Childs, Eve Dallas and Commoran Stike (Cuckoo's Calling).
